Safety, striving for lutherie excellence

and community

The Luthiers’ Library

The Luthiers’ Library is part of Brisbane Guitar Making School’s commitment to shared learning, craftsmanship, and community.

It’s more than a collection of books — it includes plans, templates, jigs, and resources contributed by students, instructors, and luthiers over time.
Some resources were purpose-built for specific guitars; others have been adapted for broader use.

All reflect the time, care, and skill of their makers, and all are valued, even if they differ from the jigs and methods used in our classes.

At this stage, only books and periodicals are listed in the online catalogue.

Over time, the listings will expand to include tools, jigs, moulds, templates, and plans, supporting both workshop and home builders.

Current students will shortly be added as library users, giving direct access to search, borrow, and contribute. Next Luthier Club members once the balance of the artefacts are catalogued.

This page and the library itself will continue to develop as our community grows.

Help Grow the Luthiers’ Library

We’re looking for help expanding the Luthiers’ Library catalogue.

If you enjoy organising, photographing, or working with books, we could use your help.
Tasks include finding and adding images of books and magazines (either by searching online or taking a physical photo), and helping with cataloguing, barcoding, and assigning call numbers.

If you’re interested in contributing, please get in touch.
Every little bit helps us build a stronger community resource.
